Chargebacks on Cam Sites
A cam site chargeback is when you ask your card issuer to reverse a payment instead of asking the platform. It is the right tool for a charge you did not make; for a purchase you regret or a show that went wrong, the platform's own refund route is usually faster and does not cost you your account. Some platforms, MyFreeCams among them, permanently ban accounts that file disputes.

In short
- Unauthorized or duplicate charge: contact your bank. In the US you have 60 days from the statement date to send a written billing-error notice (CFPB).
- Disappointing show, technical problem or regret: use the platform's refund process first, and fast (24 to 72 hours on several sites).
- Expect account consequences: MyFreeCams says chargebacks or disputes lead to a permanent ban; unused tokens are often forfeited when an account is closed.
- Chargebacks hurt performers too: several platforms deduct disputed amounts or hold reserves against model earnings.
What is a chargeback?
A chargeback is a reversal ordered by your card issuer. You dispute a charge with your bank, the bank investigates with the merchant's processor, and if it finds for you, the money comes back to your card. The merchant (here, the cam site's processor) loses the payment and usually pays a fee on top.
In the US, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau explains the process for credit cards: send a written billing-error notice to the card issuer within 60 days after the statement showing the charge was sent to you. The issuer must acknowledge your dispute within 30 days. If it finds in your favor, the charge is removed; if not, it must explain why in writing. Rules in other countries differ; we could not verify UK guidance for this page, so check with your own bank.
Chargeback or refund: which applies?
| Situation | Best first step |
|---|---|
| A charge you did not make (stolen card, someone else used your account) | Your bank, immediately; then the platform, to lock the account |
| Charged twice for the same package | The platform's billing support; most list duplicate billing as refundable |
| A membership renewed that you forgot to cancel | Cancel it, then ask the platform; refunds for renewals are rarely promised |
| A private show ended early or the performer refused the agreed show | The platform's complaint process, within its time limit |
| Tokens lost through a site error | The platform's support, with time and username |
| You regret the purchase | Check the refund policy; a dispute here risks a ban |
What platforms say about refunds
These are the platforms' published rules, checked October 14, 2026. They are the route a platform expects you to use before going to your bank.
- MyFreeCams: says to contact its support, not the card issuer. Token refunds are possible for technical problems and unsatisfactory private shows, but not for tips, group or spy shows. Money refunds for purchases in the past 30 days, up to $1,000, if enough tokens remain; new members get a full refund within 30 days if they used 200 tokens or fewer.
- Stripchat: money refunds only for your last package, bought within 30 days, tokens unused, card or PayPal only. Token complaints within 48 hours; no full refund if a disputed private lasted over 5 minutes; no refunds for off-site deals.
- Chaturbate: billing questions and refunds by phone at 1-877-338-7068; disputes over a broadcaster interaction by support ticket. Tips are final, and billing errors must be reported within 30 days of appearing on a statement.
- LiveJasmin: complaints within 24 hours. Cash refunds only for an entirely unused package, to the original payment method; partially used packages only in credits.
- BongaCams: complaints within 24 hours; money refunds only of the full original amount via the same method; "All transactions should be considered final."
- CamSoda: tokens generally non-refundable once delivered, except duplicate billing, technical errors, unauthorized transactions or fraud.
- Streamate and Jerkmate: "All sales are final"; credits or discounts only in extraordinary cases; discrepancies must be reported within 30 days.
- CAM4: no general token refund policy; refunds and chargebacks are reviewed under law, card-network rules and processor requirements. Group-show tickets are refunded automatically if the show is cancelled.
- XLoveCam: e-wallet credit refundable within 14 days of the first load if none was spent; otherwise only for technical errors or unauthorized charges.
- SkyPrivate: card refunds of the full deposit only if unspent, for deposits in the last 60 days; complaints within 72 hours; crypto and Bancontact top-ups cannot be refunded.
- Flirt4Free: refunds case by case, only to the original payment method.
What happens to your account after a chargeback
MyFreeCams is the most explicit: its Billing Help says chargebacks or disputes lead to a permanent ban. It also tells members to contact its support rather than the card issuer. Other platforms do not spell out a ban in the pages we read, but their terms give them room to close accounts, and closing an account usually means losing what is in it. Stripchat's terms say unused tokens are forfeited if an account is terminated for a breach; CamSoda's say credits left in a terminated account are forfeited.
CamSoda also notes that users may be asked for ID in connection with fraud or chargebacks. Expect a platform to ask questions before it reopens an account that disputed a payment.
How chargebacks affect performers
A chargeback does not only hit the platform. Chaturbate says fan-club refunds and chargebacks can be charged back to the broadcaster. XLoveCam holds a 5% reserve from model earnings for 180 days against chargebacks. Stripchat, by contrast, tells models they are "100% protected" from chargebacks except in cases of fraud or a justified complaint about an unsatisfactory show, and SkyPrivate says it does not allow members to make chargebacks and that tips, pay-per-minute and prepaid shows are not affected except in anti-money-laundering cases. Performers can compare these terms in webcam platform fees.
If someone used your card on a cam site
- Call your card issuer and report the charge as unauthorized. Ask for a new card number.
- Identify the platform. Our list of cam site statement names helps match a descriptor to a site.
- Tell the platform's billing support so it can block further use. CamSoda, for example, lists unauthorized transactions among the cases it refunds.
- Secure your own accounts if the card was saved in one: change the password and turn on two-factor login (see account security).
Avoiding the need for a chargeback
Most disputes start with a renewal nobody remembered or an auto-refill nobody meant to turn on. General best practice: before buying, read whether anything renews, leave auto-refill off, and set a spending limit where the platform offers one. To cancel renewals, follow how to stop recurring billing. If you plan to leave a platform, use up or accept losing your balance, then delete the account.
FAQ
Can I dispute a charge from a cam site?
Yes. Your card issuer handles disputes regardless of the merchant. For unauthorized charges it is the right route. For regretted purchases, platforms prefer you use their refund process, and some ban accounts that dispute instead.
Will I get banned for a chargeback on a cam site?
On MyFreeCams, yes: its billing help says chargebacks or disputes lead to a permanent ban. Other platforms can close accounts under their terms, and unused tokens are usually forfeited on closure.
How long do I have to dispute a credit card charge?
In the US, the CFPB says to send a written billing-error notice within 60 days after the statement showing the charge was sent. Platform deadlines are much shorter: 24 hours on LiveJasmin and BongaCams, 48 hours for Stripchat token complaints, 30 days for Chaturbate billing errors.
Can I get my money back for unused tokens?
Sometimes. Stripchat refunds your last package if bought within 30 days and unused (card or PayPal only); LiveJasmin refunds entirely unused packages; MyFreeCams refunds recent purchases if enough tokens remain. Partly used packages are rarely refunded in cash.
