What are webcam tokens?

A webcam token is a virtual unit you buy from a cam platform and spend inside it. You cannot pay a performer directly in dollars on most sites; instead you load a balance and move tokens from it. The platform keeps the money, credits the performer's account with tokens, and later converts those tokens to cash at its own payout rate.

Not every site calls the unit a token. Here is how the platforms we track name and price their in-site money, as stated on their official pages in October 2026.

Two naming traps are worth knowing. BongaCams uses "GOLD" as a membership status (its welcome offer is 10 tokens plus lifetime GOLD membership), not as a currency. Cam4 also sells a "Gold" membership. Neither is the same thing as Streamate's GOLD, which is money. For a fuller look at the two pricing models, see token sites vs credit sites.

How webcam tokens work

The basic cycle is the same on every token site we checked, even though menus and names differ.

1. Buy a package. You pick a token package and pay by card, crypto or another local method. The site credits your account with the token amount. See how to buy tokens for a walkthrough.
2. Spend tokens in rooms. Tokens go to performers as tips (often from a tip menu), as per-minute charges for private, group or spy shows, as ticket prices, or for photos, videos and fan clubs.
3. The model's balance fills up. Every token you send lands in the performer's account at the full token count. Nothing is deducted in tokens.
4. The model cashes out. At payout time the platform converts the performer's tokens to money at its published rate (or a percentage) and pays by the methods it offers.

The step that confuses people is the last one. The rate at which the model cashes out is lower than the rate at which you bought. That difference is not a hidden fee on your purchase; it is how the platform is paid. We explain it below under "the spread". How much are webcam tokens worth?

A token has two values: what it cost the buyer and what it pays the performer. The table shows both, using only official price lists and payout terms we could read on October 14, 2026. Prices exclude VAT unless the platform says otherwise and can differ by country.

The per-unit prices are computed by dividing each package price by its token count. Platform-by-platform package tables live on our token pages for Chaturbate, Stripchat and BongaCams.

Webcam token to dollar conversion

To turn a token amount into dollars, multiply it by the per-token price of the package you bought (for what you paid) or by the payout rate (for what the performer earns). The calculator below does that with the verified US-dollar rates in our data. It covers platforms that publish a USD package list or reference value; EUR-priced sites such as BongaCams and Cam4 are explained on the token to dollar converter page instead of being converted at a guessed exchange rate.

Two quick rules of thumb from the published numbers. On the four $0.05 sites, 100 tokens always pay the performer $5.00, 1,000 tokens pay $50.00. What those 100 tokens cost you depends on the package: about $10.50 at the 200-token level on Stripchat's example table, about $7.96 at its largest package.

The spread: viewer price vs model value

The spread is the difference between what a token cost the viewer and what it pays the model. It covers payment processing, chargebacks, hosting, marketing and the platform's profit. Platforms rarely put it this plainly, but the numbers they publish let you calculate it.

Stripchat is the most open about it. Its help center says the $0.05 per token equals 48% to 63% of the package price, "over 55%" of user spending on average, and "over 75%" if you count the processing, chargeback and payout costs Stripchat covers. Its example table shows the share rising with package size:

The pattern holds elsewhere. On MyFreeCams' table the model share runs from 50% (200 tokens) to about 63% (7,575 tokens), and MyFreeCams says it pays out more than 60% of gross revenue on average. On Chaturbate the share is about 48% at the $20.99 reference value and about 63% at the $0.08 wire rate.

A useful way to compare: how many dollars does a viewer spend for every $1 that reaches the performer? On the published USD lists it ranges from about $2.00 to $2.10 for 200-token packages down to about $1.58 to $1.61 for the largest packages on Stripchat, MyFreeCams and CamSoda. CamSoda's smallest package, 50 tokens for $6.99, works out to about $2.80 per $1 to the model.

BongaCams: the "about 50%" that does not add up

BongaCams states in its user FAQ that "Models are always paid the same amount (0.025 €) per Token" and that "pretty much about 50%" of the money goes to models. Against its own public price list, €0.025 is about 23% of the per-token price of the 27-token package and about 42% at the 42,100-token package. We could not reconcile the two statements from public pages, so we report both and do not pick one. BongaCams' model site states earnings in US dollars and does not give a per-token rate. Which cam site has the cheapest tokens?

On raw price per token, BongaCams' larger packages are the lowest we found (about €0.059 per token from 8,400 tokens up), and Cam4's are the highest (from €0.170 per token). But a token is not the same size on every site, so the cheapest token is not automatically the cheapest show.

• A Cam4 token pays the performer $0.10, twice a Chaturbate or Stripchat token, so performers on Cam4 usually ask for fewer tokens for the same thing.
• A BongaCams token pays €0.025, so prices there are naturally set in larger token numbers.
• Among the $0.05 sites, the lowest per-token prices are close: about $0.0792 (MyFreeCams, 7,575 tokens), $0.0795 (Stripchat example, 12,570 tokens), $0.08 (Chaturbate wire, $250 minimum) and about $0.081 (CamSoda, 3,100 tokens).
• At entry level, MyFreeCams' 200 tokens for $19.99 ($0.10 each) is slightly below the $20.99-for-200 level seen on Stripchat, CamSoda and Chaturbate's reference value.

Two more caveats: MyFreeCams unlocks its larger packages only after some months as a premium member, and Stripchat says larger packages unlock with account history or on request. How models earn from tokens

Platforms pay performers in one of two ways.

• Fixed value per token. Chaturbate, Stripchat, MyFreeCams and CamSoda pay $0.05 per token, Cam4 pays $0.10 and BongaCams' FAQ says €0.025. The model earns the same per token whatever package the viewer bought, so the platform's share is what moves with package size.
• Percentage of spend. LiveJasmin pays 30% to 80% depending on the model's earnings level in the period; XloveCam states 50% of turnover; SkyPrivate starts new models at 70%; ImLive's host agreement leaves the host 27% of per-minute chat spend by default, with higher shares for some hosts and for members they bring in.

A fixed per-token rate is easy to check: 1,000 tokens on Chaturbate convert to $50.00 according to its own conversion table. Percentage models are harder to compare because the price a viewer pays per credit is not published logged out on most of them. Do webcam tokens expire?

Some do. Check this before buying a large package you may not use soon.

• Cam4: purchased tokens unused for six months after purchase expire without a refund (Terms of Use).
• Flirt4Free: its Terms say credits may expire after six months.
• Cams.com: accounts with no login for 180 days may be charged a maintenance fee of 50 tokens per month from the balance; after two years the account may be closed and remaining tokens extinguished.
• Stripchat: unused tokens are forfeited if an account is terminated for a breach of the Terms or after inactivity.
• CamSoda and XloveCam: credits left in a terminated or closed account are lost.
• ImLive: its host agreement mentions member credits that expire or are forfeited; the member-side rule was not readable from our location.

For Chaturbate, BongaCams, MyFreeCams and LiveJasmin we did not find a published expiry period for purchased tokens or credits in the pages we read. That is not a guarantee that none exists.

Can you get a refund on tokens?

Rarely, and almost never for tokens you have already sent. Chaturbate's Terms call tips final, and Stripchat's Terms call them gifts that are not refunded outside narrow cases. The main exceptions are unused packages, billing errors and technical faults.

Disputing a charge with your bank instead of the platform can get your account banned; MyFreeCams says so explicitly. Read chargebacks on cam sites before you go that route.

VAT, currency and regional prices

The price on a token package is not always the price you pay. Three things move it:

• VAT and sales taxes. In the EU, electronic services sold to consumers are taxed in the customer's country, and the UK applies VAT to digital services sold to UK consumers. Chaturbate added a help article in October 2026: depending on your region, VAT may be included in the price shown, and the price may change after you enter billing details. Streamate adds EU VAT and Canadian sales tax, plus fees for Alabama (+10%) and Utah (+2%). Flirt4Free adds EU VAT at purchase. We did not research US state sales tax on tokens.
• Location. BongaCams and LiveJasmin both say the price depends on the country where the account was created or the first purchase was made. Stripchat and CamSoda say prices vary by country and payment method. MyFreeCams is the exception: all prices are in US dollars, the same for everyone.
• Payment method. Cam4 gives fewer tokens for the same price on one e-wallet method; XloveCam's PayPal and paysafecard top-ups load less credit; Chaturbate's wire and crypto rates differ from card prices. Your card issuer may also add a foreign transaction fee when prices are in another currency.

Most token purchases are one-off, but some sites offer optional auto-refill that re-buys your last package when the balance runs low (Chaturbate, Stripchat, BongaCams). How do webcam tokens work?

You buy a package of tokens with real money, then send tokens to performers as tips or spend them on per-minute shows, tickets and content. The performer's account is credited with the tokens, and the platform later converts them to cash at its payout rate.

How much are webcam tokens worth?

To a viewer, about $0.08 to $0.14 per token on the US-dollar price lists we could verify, depending on site and package size. To the performer, $0.05 per token on Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda and MyFreeCams, $0.10 on Cam4 and €0.025 on BongaCams according to its FAQ.

How much is 100 tokens in dollars?

On the $0.05 sites, 100 tokens pay the performer $5.00. The buyer paid between about $7.92 and $14 for them, depending on platform and package. On Cam4, 100 tokens pay the performer $10.00.

Which cam site has the cheapest tokens?

BongaCams has the lowest price per token on its published list (about €0.059 on large packages), but its tokens pay models less. Among sites paying models $0.05 per token, the largest packages on MyFreeCams, Stripchat's example table, Chaturbate's wire rate and CamSoda all land around $0.08 per token.

Do cam site tokens expire?

On some sites. Cam4 tokens unused for six months after purchase expire, Flirt4Free credits may expire after six months, and Cams.com can charge an inactivity fee after 180 days without login. Several sites forfeit tokens if the account is closed or terminated.

Can I convert my tokens back to money as a viewer?

We found no platform among those we track that lets viewers cash out tokens; Cams.com's Terms, for example, say tokens may not be redeemed for cash. Only performers convert earned tokens to money. Viewers can at most get a refund of an unused package under the narrow rules listed above.
