How Tipping Works on Cam Sites
On cam sites, tipping means sending tokens, credits or site currency to a performer while you watch, usually in the free public room. Tips pay for most free shows: performers post a tip menu with prices for requests, set tip goals for the room, and connect toys that react to tips. Tips are almost always final, so treat them like cash.
In short
- All 14 platforms we cover support tipping, in tokens, credits, GOLD or euros.
- Tip menus list requests with a price; tip goals collect tips from the whole room toward one target.
- Many sites let tips trigger interactive toys (Lovense and others).
- Anonymous tipping is usually a paid perk: Chaturbate Supporter, Stripchat Ultimate, CamSoda Premium, Cam4 Gold. MyFreeCams allows it from 5 tokens.
- Tips are final on Chaturbate and LiveJasmin and "never refunded" in Stripchat's terms, although Stripchat models can refund tips received in the last 20 minutes.
This is part of our cam site features guides. If you are new to tokens, start with how webcam tokens work.
How tipping works on cam sites, step by step
- Buy currency. Tokens on token sites, credits on LiveJasmin and Flirt4Free, GOLD on Streamate and Jerkmate (1 GOLD equals $1), a euro balance on XLoveCam, a dollar balance on SkyPrivate. Our guide to buying tokens covers payment.
- Open the tip control in the room. Most sites offer preset amounts and a custom field. Flirt4Free accepts tips from 5 to 100,000 credits.
- Add a message or choose a menu item if you want something specific.
- Send. The tip usually appears in chat, may move a goal bar, and may set off a connected toy.
Free public rooms work because of this flow: you can watch at no cost, and the people who tip fund the show. That is the core of the freemium model explained in how webcam sites work.
Tip menus
A tip menu is a price list the performer posts in the room: a fixed number of tokens for a song request, a dance, a toy pattern and so on. Chaturbate, Stripchat, BongaCams, CamSoda and Cam4 all support tip menus; MyFreeCams has them on MFC Share; Streamate and Jerkmate call it a Gold Menu. BongaCams added its tip menu to the mobile version in July 2025.
LiveJasmin uses priced "Request Actions" instead; its about page gives examples of 10 and 15 credits for specific requests. XLoveCam has an Actions panel with gifts, action requests and toy vibrations, each priced by the performer. Full definition: tip menu.
One rule to know: Chaturbate's terms prohibit tipping for specific acts, even though tip menus exist there. Menus are the performer's offer, and the performer stays in control of what happens.
Tip goals and room games
A tip goal is a target for the whole room: when tips add up to the number, the performer does what the goal promised. Our tip goal definition has the short version. Platforms build many games on top:
- Stripchat: goals and Epic goals, King of the room, Wheel of Fortune, polls and reactions.
- CamSoda: goals and multi-goals, Spin the Wheel, Scratchoff and Versus.
- Cam4: Beat The Leader, Boost (25 tokens for 5 minutes) and a Games Center with Roll the Dice, Token Keno and Spin the Wheel.
- LiveJasmin: Surprises (credit tips), King of the Room for the top spender in 24 hours, Goodie Basket credit pools and Jasmin Gifts (physical items).
- Chaturbate: goals and games run as apps and bots from the App Directory.
- Cams.com: Goal or Tipping shows and a Wheel of Fun.
Tips that control toys
On many platforms a tip also sends a signal to the performer's connected toy, with stronger or longer reactions for bigger tips. BongaCams added a one-click Sex Toy menu in October 2026 that lists each vibration with its duration, level and token cost. Cams.com has Buzzmode and Superbuzz, which trigger a sound-activated toy. ImLive members send "vibes". The full picture is on our interactive toys page.
Anonymous, silent and offline tips
- Anonymous tips are a paid perk on most sites: Chaturbate's Supporter membership ($19.95 a month), Stripchat Ultimate, CamSoda Premium ($19.95 a month) and Cam4 Gold. MyFreeCams lets any member send an anonymous tip of at least 5 tokens and also offers silent tipping through chat commands.
- Offline tips reach a performer who is not live: Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda, Flirt4Free and Cams.com (from the bio page) support them, and MyFreeCams sends them through MFC Mail.
- Tips in calls: on SkyPrivate you type a command such as "!10" in the Teams or Discord chat, up to 30 minutes after the call, or use the Tips button in SP Chat.
If privacy is the reason you want to tip anonymously, also read our cam site privacy guide.

XLoveCam calls its tip a "Bonus", from EUR 0.1 to 50 in free chat. BongaCams also sells paid questions through a "sex questionnaire" (default 20 tokens, range 1 to 2,000).
How much of a tip the performer keeps
Viewers pay one price per token, performers are paid another. Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda and MyFreeCams pay performers $0.05 per token, and Cam4 pays $0.10. BongaCams' user FAQ says models are paid 0.025 EUR per token and also that models get "about 50%" of every package; computed from its own price list, 0.025 EUR is about 23% to 42% of what viewers pay per token, so the two statements do not match. Platforms that pay a share of revenue instead of a fixed token value are compared on webcam platform fees.
Gifts may be split differently: Cams.com says models receive a percentage of virtual gifts.
Refunds and limits
- Chaturbate: tips are gratuities and final when sent.
- Stripchat: its terms say tips are gifts and never refunded, but models can refund tips received in the last 20 minutes, and support only refunds a tip when there was a clear agreement on the exact request and amount.
- LiveJasmin: Surprises (tips) are non-refundable.
- MyFreeCams: token refunds do not cover tips.
- Sweden: since 30 June 2025, Chaturbate members in Sweden can no longer buy or send tokens, and Cam4 restricts interactive features for Swedish IPs.
A good habit is to set a budget before you open a room, keep auto-refill off (Chaturbate's Auto Refill, Stripchat's Auto-Refill and BongaCams' Auto Top-up are all opt-in), and confirm what a menu item includes before you tip for it.
FAQ
How does tipping work on cam sites?
You buy tokens or credits, then send them to a performer from the room's tip control, optionally with a message or a tip menu item. Tips can move a room goal and trigger a connected toy.
Can I get a refund on a tip?
Rarely. Chaturbate and LiveJasmin treat tips as final. On Stripchat, the model can refund tips from the last 20 minutes, and support only steps in when there was a clear agreement on the request and amount.
How much of my tip does the model get?
On Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda and MyFreeCams the performer gets $0.05 per token; on Cam4, $0.10. What you paid per token depends on your package, so the share varies.
Can I tip anonymously?
Yes, mostly as a paid perk: Chaturbate Supporter, Stripchat Ultimate, CamSoda Premium and Cam4 Gold. MyFreeCams allows anonymous tips of 5 tokens or more for any member.
What is a tip menu?
A price list in the room, set by the performer, that names a token price for specific requests. Streamate and Jerkmate call it a Gold Menu.
