Geo-Blocking
Geo-blocking on cam sites is a privacy setting that hides a model's room and profile from viewers in chosen countries, states or regions, based on the viewer's IP address. Models use it to avoid being seen by people from their hometown or country. Almost every major platform offers it, but the detail differs: Chaturbate blocks down to US states, Canadian provinces and UK regions, while LiveJasmin covers your home country plus three more.

How geo-blocking works
When a viewer opens the site, the platform looks up the country (and often the state or region) of their IP address. If that location is on a model's block list, the model's room does not appear in listings and the profile cannot be opened. Chaturbate notes that its blocks apply to "viewers, both anonymous and registered", so logging out does not get around them.
It is a privacy tool for performers, not a security guarantee. IP location can be wrong, and people using connections routed through other countries appear to be somewhere else. Limits to know before relying on it
- Accuracy. Location comes from the IP address. Border areas and mobile networks can be placed wrongly.
- Mobile. Flirt4Free says its blocking does not cover mobile visitors at all. Check your platform's help page.
- Caps. LiveJasmin limits you to your home country or state plus three more.
- Content elsewhere. Clips you sell or post can be shared beyond the platform, and a block only applies on the site where you set it.
When the platform blocks a region itself
Geo-blocking can also come from the platform, usually because of local law:
- Sweden. Since 30 June 2025 Chaturbate members in Sweden cannot buy, send or receive tokens; Cam4 blocks chat, private shows and paid interactive requests for Swedish IPs. See the Sweden token ban.
- Blocked domains. Stripchat's help center acknowledges stripchat.com is blocked in some countries and gives models a broadcast-only mirror.
- Embargoes. CamSoda's terms say the site must not be accessed from China, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria or other countries under US embargo.
- Age-check laws. In the UK, many US states and Australia, platforms add age verification for viewers instead of blocking; see cam sites by country.
We found no reliable report of a major cam platform blocking an entire US state.
A note for viewers
If a model you follow disappears from your listings, they may have blocked your region. That is their choice. Regulators such as Ofcom say services must not encourage users to get around age checks, and platform terms generally require you to follow local law, so we do not cover workarounds.
