Private Shows on Cam Sites
Private shows on cam sites are paid sessions where a performer leaves the free public room and streams to you alone, or to you plus a few paying watchers. You request the show, the performer accepts, and you are charged per minute (or per second) at a rate the performer sets, until you or the performer ends it.
In short
- Every major platform we track offers private shows. Only SkyPrivate has nothing else: no public rooms at all.
- The performer sets the rate on almost every site. MyFreeCams is the exception, with a fixed 60 tokens a minute.
- A "private" show often still allows spies. If you want nobody else watching, look for the exclusive version (Exclusive Private, Full-private, TruePrivate, 100% Xclusive).
- Billing ranges from per second (BongaCams, LiveJasmin) to every 10 seconds (CamSoda) to whole minutes rounded up (XLoveCam, SkyPrivate).
- Some performers set a minimum length. On Stripchat, leaving early still costs that minimum.
This guide explains how private shows work. If you only want the numbers, our breakdown of private show prices by site lists every published rate. For the bigger picture of feature names across platforms, see the cam site features hub.
What a private show on a cam site is
Most cam sites have two layers. The public room is free to watch and is paid for by tips from the crowd. A private show moves the performer out of that room into a paid session, where the conversation and the show are shaped by the person paying. In the platforms' rules, explicit content is often limited to paid modes: Cams.com's model rules allow only topless content in free chat, and LiveJasmin's terms keep nudity to private mode.
Premium, pay-per-minute platforms such as LiveJasmin, Streamate, Flirt4Free, ImLive and XLoveCam are built around private time. Tip-based platforms such as Chaturbate, Stripchat, BongaCams, CamSoda, MyFreeCams and Cam4 put the public room first and treat privates as one paid option among several. Our comparison of public chat and private shows goes into that trade-off.
How private shows work, step by step
- Load a balance. Buy tokens or credits, or add a card on per-minute sites. Streamate charges card users "$2.00 USD or an amount equal to the first full minute, whichever is greater" when they first enter a paid area, credited back toward purchases.
- Check the rate. The per-minute price is shown on the room or profile before you start. On Streamate and Jerkmate it is only visible once logged in.
- Request the show. On Chaturbate only the viewer can start a private; broadcasters cannot. On MyFreeCams the model accepts or declines the request.
- The meter runs. Tokens or credits are deducted while the show lasts. Stripchat stops the show automatically when you run out of tokens.
- Either side ends it. You pay for the time used, subject to any minimum length and the site's rounding rule.
How you are billed: per minute, per second, rounded up
The unit of the rate is almost always per minute, but the way sites count time differs, and it matters for short shows.
- Per second: BongaCams bills privates per second, and LiveJasmin says "In Private Chat LiveJasmin uses per second billing". MyFreeCams' 60 tokens a minute works out to 1 token per second.
- Every 10 seconds: CamSoda collects tokens every 10 seconds.
- Whole minutes: XLoveCam bills by the full minute, rounded up. SkyPrivate charges at the start of the call and then every 60 seconds, rounding the duration up to the next full minute.
- One credit at a time: Flirt4Free says credits "begin to deduct one credit at a time" once you enter a show.
- Fixed blocks: Cam4 performers can sell a Fixed Rate block (its example: 15 minutes for 50 tokens). Streamate and Jerkmate offer discounted block sessions of 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes at 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% off.
Rates are in the site's own unit: tokens on token sites, credits on LiveJasmin and Flirt4Free, dollars on Streamate, Jerkmate and SkyPrivate, euros on XLoveCam. To turn a token rate into money, use the token to dollar converter.
Private vs exclusive private shows
The word "private" does not always mean that only you are watching. On many platforms a standard private allows other members to pay a lower rate to watch (spy, voyeur or sneak peek). The exclusive tier blocks that, usually for a higher price.
| Platform | Standard private | No-spy version |
|---|---|---|
| Chaturbate | Private; spying possible unless the broadcaster disables it | Premium private show, with its own rate and minimum |
| Stripchat | Private | Exclusive Private, with extra activities and optional cam2cam |
| BongaCams | Private Chat, default 60 tokens/min | Full-private Chat, default 90 tokens/min |
| CamSoda | Private | Exclusive Private (spying disabled) |
| MyFreeCams | 60 tokens/min, fixed | TruePrivate, 80 tokens/min |
| LiveJasmin | Private Chat | Exclusive Private via the lock icon |
| Streamate | Premium (others can join and watch) | Exclusive (one-on-one) |
| Cams.com | Private Chat (voyeurs may watch) | Exclusive Chat |
| XLoveCam | Private Show (others can join) | 100% Xclusive Show, if the performer enables it |
MyFreeCams' TruePrivate has its own glossary entry: what TruePrivate means. How the watching side works is covered in our guide to spy mode and voyeur shows.
Minimum length and leaving early
Several platforms let performers set a minimum duration, and the rules on leaving early are not the same everywhere.
- Chaturbate: broadcasters can set an optional minimum show length for privates, and premium privates have their own minimum.
- Stripchat: models can set a minimum duration; leaving early charges the minimum.
- CamSoda: if the model ends a show early, the user is refunded the remaining minimum; if the user ends early, there is no refund.
- SkyPrivate: models can set an optional minimum call duration and can also sell prepaid show packages.
A good habit is to check the minimum before you click, and to start with a short show on a site that bills per second if you are unsure.

A few platform details worth knowing:
- Cam4 has per-minute tiers from 6 to 120 tokens (default 24), Fixed Rate blocks, a Solo Private mode for performers streaming elsewhere, and Offline Private Shows you can request when the performer is offline within set availability.
- Flirt4Free splits privates into Standard (30 to 60 credits a minute), Premiere Chat (70 to 500) and Combo (60 to 120), and its Show Offers let you negotiate price and length.
- ImLive hosts price between 0.98 and 14.90 credits a minute depending on category, and the homepage has a Prepaid Sessions category.
- SkyPrivate runs every show as a one-on-one call in Teams, Discord, Telegram or its own SP Chat, priced in US dollars per minute.
- Jerkmate uses the same performer pool as Streamate, with Private and Exclusive shows and per-minute billing.
What private shows cost
Rates are set by performers within limits some platforms publish: 8 to 150 tokens a minute on Stripchat, 30 to 250 on BongaCams, 6 to 120 on Cam4 and a fixed 60 on MyFreeCams. CamSoda's help center gives "typical" ranges of 6 to 120 tokens for privates and 12 to 150 for exclusive privates. Turning that into money needs the package price of each site, which is why we keep a separate page on how much a private webcam show costs with worked examples, plus platform pages such as Stripchat pricing and LiveJasmin prices.
Fan club tiers can lower the cost. CamSoda's Insider tier gives 10% off privates and Legend 25% off; Cams.com fan club members get 10% off Nude and Private chats. More in our guide to cam site fan clubs.
Recordings of your private show
Some platforms keep a copy for the buyer. Chaturbate records private shows by default into the buyer's "My Collection" (shows of 30 seconds or longer), unless the broadcaster turns it off. MyFreeCams saves privates to your Archives for free but says archives are "NOT GUARANTEED". BongaCams keeps Full-private recordings available while the model's profile is active. Stripchat and CamSoda save them only if the model allows it. Details are in our page on recorded shows and videos.
Limitations to know before you start
- Rates are often hidden until you log in on premium sites (Streamate, Jerkmate, LiveJasmin room rates).
- Refunds are narrow. Stripchat accepts complaints within 48 hours and gives no full refund if a disputed private lasted over 5 minutes. BongaCams and LiveJasmin want complaints within 24 hours. Streamate and Jerkmate state a "no refunds" policy.
- Extras cost extra. LiveJasmin says Cam2Cam and two-way audio "may incur extra per-minute charges", and Cam4 performers set a separate Cam2Cam rate. See cam to cam.
- Private does not always mean unseen. Choose the exclusive tier if that matters to you.
FAQ
How do private shows work on cam sites?
You request a private from the performer's room, the performer accepts, and you are charged per minute at the performer's posted rate from your token, credit or card balance until one of you ends the show.
What is the difference between a private and an exclusive show?
In a standard private, other members can often pay to spy on the show. An exclusive show (Exclusive Private, Full-private, TruePrivate, 100% Xclusive) blocks spies and usually costs more.
Can other people watch my private show?
Yes, on many sites, through spy or voyeur mode, unless you choose the exclusive option or the performer disables spying. Spies on Chaturbate and MyFreeCams see the video but not the private chat.
Is there a minimum length for a private show?
Only if the performer sets one, which Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda and SkyPrivate allow. On Stripchat, leaving before the minimum still costs the minimum.
Are private shows recorded?
On some sites, for your own collection: by default on Chaturbate and MyFreeCams, and on Stripchat and CamSoda if the model allows it. Streamate's terms say members may not record live shows themselves.
