How to become a Chaturbate model, step by step

Create an account at chaturbate.com. Signing up is free.
Sign the Independent Broadcaster Agreement in your broadcaster settings.
Verify your age by uploading your ID and a selfie of yourself holding it. Chaturbate's Terms also mention a live selfie video and live video of the ID.
Verify anyone else who will appear on camera with you, using the same process.
Add tax and payout details, choose a payout method and set your minimum.
Set up your room: tip menu and goals, then go live from the browser, OBS or your phone.

Chaturbate model requirements

Chaturbate's age verification help is specific about which documents work. You need a valid, unexpired, government-issued plastic ID showing your date of birth, a recognizable photo, the ID number and your legal name. A driver's license or passport is accepted. These are not accepted:

expired or temporary IDs;
military IDs;
hand-written IDs;
birth certificates.

Who can join: anyone 18 or older. The site has Women, Men, Couples and Trans categories. Studios can open studio accounts, and their broadcasters' earnings are paid to the studio daily; broadcasters under a studio cannot convert tokens themselves. If you want to be paid directly, sign up as an independent broadcaster.

The ID rules exist because US law (28 CFR 75.2) requires producers of explicit content to keep each performer's legal name, date of birth and a copy of the ID examined, including for live internet performances.

Chaturbate payout: what one token is worth

Chaturbate's help center states it directly: "Tokens convert to cash at a rate of $0.05 each". The rate is the same for every token, whatever package the viewer bought and whether it came as a tip, private show, fan club fee or content sale.

As a share of what viewers spend, the figure depends on how they bought tokens. Chaturbate does not publish its card package list logged out, but its help center values 200 tokens at $20.99, and wire purchases are credited at $0.08 per token. Against those reference points, $0.05 is about 48% and about 63% of what the viewer paid. How much do Chaturbate models earn?

Chaturbate does not publish average or typical earnings, and we do not estimate them. What you can calculate is the value of what you earn: every 20 tokens are $1.00. A private show you price at 60 tokens per minute earns 600 tokens, or $30.00, over 10 minutes. A fan club or tip menu priced in tokens converts the same way.

Your real income depends on hours online, audience size and the prices you set. Payout method fees reduce small payouts, so it pays to pick a method that suits your balance. To compare the $0.05 rate with percentage-based sites, read cam site fees and payout percentages.

Payout schedule: twice a month, or daily

Regular payouts are semi-monthly:

Pay periods: the 1st to the 15th, and the 16th to the end of the month, with the cutoff at midnight Mountain Time.
Payment date: sent within 7 business days after the period ends. No payouts go out on weekends or US holidays.
Daily payouts: Monday to Friday, with a $3.95 fee charged once per day. You qualify after 2 regular payouts if you are in the US, or 4 if you are international. The daily minimum is $20 plus the fee, or $500 for wire.

Since August 2026 Chaturbate has been rolling out a New Payout Experience. Creators are invited to re-enter payout recipient, tax and payout method details in a new form. Payout methods did not change, and you can store more than one method.

Broadcasting software and mobile streaming

Chaturbate has no dedicated broadcaster app. You have three options:

In-browser broadcaster: the quickest way to start, no software needed.
OBS, XSplit or another external encoder via RTMP: H.264 video and AAC audio, from 240p up to 4K, up to 60 fps and up to 50 Mbps. DSLR cameras work through capture cards.
Mobile browser: the Broadcast button works in portrait and landscape on iOS (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet) and Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet). Private shows and tip notes are supported; sending chat messages while broadcasting from mobile is listed as "coming soon".

Geo-blocking and country restrictions

You can block your room from viewers in chosen countries, US states, Canadian provinces and UK regions. The block is IP-based, and Chaturbate notes it is "not 100% accurate", so treat it as a strong filter rather than a guarantee. More on how it works in our geo-blocking explainer.

One country restriction matters for creators: since 18:00 on June 30, 2025, members in Sweden can no longer buy, send or receive tokens or convert tokens to payouts, after changes to Swedish law. The site itself was not blocked.

Audience and money-making tools

Show types: private, premium private, spy, password and ticket shows.
Tip menus and goals through the App Directory, plus interactive toys that react to tips.
Fan club with a monthly price you choose; existing members keep the price they joined at if you raise it.
Content sales: photos, videos, paid social media access and private show recordings.
Moderation: moderators and ChaturSafe (since July 2025), which filters chat by topic with Low, Medium, High or Custom strictness.
New broadcaster boost: a NEW tag and New Cams placement for your first 80 streaming hours, expiring 30 days after your first stream.
Country filter: since August 2026 viewers can filter by country; you appear only if you opt to share yours.
Affiliate program: 20% of referred users' spending or $1 per Tier-1 signup, plus $50 per referred broadcaster who earns $20.

Fees, chargebacks and taxes

Chaturbate does not charge a sign-up fee. The costs you will meet are the payout method fees above, the $3.95 daily payout fee if you use it, and fan club chargebacks, which may be charged back to the broadcaster.

On taxes, US creators earning $600 or more receive a 1099-MISC. EU-based creators are covered by the DAC7 directive: Chaturbate collects your tax ID, address and date of birth and reports earnings to EU tax authorities from tax year 2023, emailing a password-protected PDF preview first. Keep your own records either way, since tax rules depend on where you live.
