Webcam Model Software
Every major cam site lets you go live from the browser with no extra webcam model software. For better quality and control, most also accept OBS Studio, a free and open-source streaming app, through an RTMP server address and a private stream key. A few run their own broadcaster apps instead: LiveJasmin's JasminCam, Cam4's C4 App, BongaCams' BM Broadcaster and Flirt4Free's downloadable software.

In short
- Browser broadcasters are fine for a first stream; Stripchat's browser option tops out at 864x480, while OBS reaches 1080p there.
- OBS Studio is free for Windows 10/11, macOS 13.0 or newer and Linux (version 32.2.2 shown on October 14, 2026).
- Download OBS only from obsproject.com: Cam4 warns of a phishing campaign pushing fake OBS downloads.
- Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda, MyFreeCams, Cam4, BongaCams and Cams.com document OBS or RTMP support.
- Toy and tip tools such as Lovense's free camming software run alongside your broadcaster.
This page compares the broadcasting options each platform documents and explains the main tool, OBS Studio. For the hardware side see cam model equipment; for encoder settings by upload speed see cam streaming setup. Both sit in our cam model guides.
Three ways to broadcast
- Browser broadcaster. Built into the model area of the site. Nothing to install, picks up your webcam and microphone directly. Limited control over picture and sound, and sometimes a lower resolution cap.
- External encoder (OBS and similar) via RTMP. You build the picture in software (camera, overlays, multiple cameras, audio filters) and send it to the site with a server URL and stream key. More quality and control, a little more setup.
- Platform apps. Desktop or mobile apps made by the platform, such as JasminCam or the C4 App, combining broadcasting with chat and show controls.

| BongaCams | Web streaming console, mobile site | Yes: OBS (or SplitCam) recommended | BM Broadcaster for iOS; Android app from bongamodels.com |
| LiveJasmin | Yes ("Go Online Now") | OBS multi-camera guide on the model wiki | JasminCam desktop app; mobile app for Mobile Live |
| CamSoda | Yes | Yes: listed as an OBS service, up to 50,000 kbps | None found |
| MyFreeCams | Model Web Broadcaster (WebRTC) | Yes: OBS, SplitCam, XSplit, Wirecast, ManyCam | None |
| Cam4 | Yes (WebRTC), Safari on iOS | Yes, with a published OBS guide | C4 App for Android and iOS |
| Cams.com | Web broadcaster (and beta) | OBS for HD | None documented |
| Flirt4Free | Not documented | Not documented | Own downloadable broadcasting software |

MyFreeCams says its RTMP option switches seamlessly between free chat and private, group or club shows. Chaturbate notes that sending chat messages while broadcasting from mobile is "coming soon". Stripchat says Honor, ZTE and Huawei phones are not supported for browser streaming.
OBS Studio: the standard webcam model software
OBS Studio describes itself as "free and open source software for video recording and live streaming". It is licensed GPL-2.0 and runs on Windows 10 and 11, macOS 13.0 or newer (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Linux. On October 14, 2026 the site showed version 32.2.2.
Features its homepage lists that matter for camming:
- Scenes and sources: combine webcams, capture cards, images, text and browser sources in one picture, and switch between scenes with transitions.
- Audio mixer with per-source filters such as noise gate, noise suppression and gain.
- Studio Mode to preview a scene before it goes live, and hotkeys for nearly every action.
- Plugins and scripts (native plugins, Lua or Python), which is how toy and tip-alert tools hook in.
How OBS connects to a cam site: RTMP and the stream key
RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) is a protocol for streaming audio and video over the internet. Plain RTMP runs over TCP port 1935; RTMPS adds TLS encryption. Cam sites give you two values in the model area: a server URL (Chaturbate's, for example, is rtmp://live.stream.highwebmedia.com/live-origin) and a private stream key. You paste both into OBS under Settings, Stream.
Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it can broadcast to your room. As general practice, never share screenshots of the stream settings, and reset the key if your platform offers that option and you think it leaked.
What settings do platforms ask for?
Chaturbate's OBS page asks for H.264 video and AAC audio, constant bitrate (CBR), a keyframe interval of 2 to 5 seconds and Main or High profile. Cam4's guide recommends 30 fps, CBR, a 1-second keyframe interval, the x264 "veryfast" preset or QuickSync, and enabling dynamic bitrate. Exact resolution and bitrate depend on your upload speed; the full table and a setup walkthrough are on the streaming setup page.
Platform broadcaster apps
- JasminCam (LiveJasmin): desktop broadcaster for Windows 10 64-bit and macOS 13.4 or newer, downloadable from the Model Center; the mobile app handles Mobile Live.
- C4 App (Cam4): formerly C4 Broadcaster, for Android and iOS (iOS launch announced July 22, 2026). Go live from a phone, accept private shows, set goals, message fans and record shows to the Media Vault.
- BM Broadcaster (BongaCams): iOS app from the App Store (iOS 12.4 or newer); the Android version is downloaded from bongamodels.com and needs "unknown sources" enabled (Android 5.0 or newer).
- Flirt4Free: requires its own downloadable broadcasting software; details sit behind the model login.
Phone broadcasting in general is covered on mobile cams.
Toy, tip and helper tools
Lovense's camming tools (published through its Cam101 site) are free and connect a toy to tips on "multiple integrated camsites", with tip-based vibration levels, games and control links, plus toolsets for OBS, SplitCam and Streamster. Lovense Stream Master, described as a "one-stop streaming tool for cam models", runs on Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15 or newer. Lovense's own list of compatible sites was not readable when we checked, so confirm support on your platform's help pages.
Some sites build helpers in: Chaturbate runs tip menus and goals through its App Directory; BongaCams has chatbots and countdowns. These are covered in growing your cam audience.
Choosing your software
- First stream: use the browser broadcaster to learn the room controls.
- Quality and multiple cameras: move to OBS on a site that documents RTMP.
- Phone-first: pick a site with a mobile broadcaster (Cam4, LiveJasmin, BongaCams) or mobile browser streaming (Chaturbate, Stripchat).
Streaming to more than one site at the same time needs multiple outputs or a restreaming service and enough upload for every stream; check each site's rules first. Sites differ in what they keep from your earnings (compare platform fees) and how they pay (compare payout methods).
FAQ
Which cam sites support OBS?
Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda, MyFreeCams, Cam4, BongaCams and Cams.com document OBS or RTMP streaming, and LiveJasmin has an OBS multi-camera guide on its model wiki.
Is OBS free?
Yes. OBS Studio is free and open source (GPL-2.0) for Windows 10/11, macOS 13.0 or newer and Linux.
Do I need OBS to cam?
No. Every major site has a browser broadcaster. OBS helps when you want higher resolution, better sound or more than one camera.
What is a stream key?
A private code from your model area that tells the site which room your OBS stream belongs to. Keep it secret, like a password.
